Testing of Testing Test Arc Above All Else: A Factory Too Far

OOC: Trying something a bit different for this test arc to see if this approach works. For the time being, only Nero and Lusk can respond to this post as needed. I'll let you know on Skype what your characters are doing and where they are. I will try to avoid railroading. With that in mind, let us begin.

The objective was clear, but with a team of two, Fluut wasn’t all that confident. Thankfully, though, another wandering soul had chosen to join him on his quest. Flanking him at either side were a robot built by one of the defectors, a creation named “Nero”, who hadn’t said much, and did not raise an objection to the other joining the cause.

The other in question, was a fellow Namek to Fluut, a larger Namekian named Lusk. On foot, the three ran through the forest, Fluut taking point as they came close to their destination.

“Be careful. Though this is a factory, there’s no telling what could be inside,” warned Fluut as the three made it close. The three eventually broke through the treeline, winding up on a cliff overlooking a large building, made of iron and steel, smoke billowing out of the large towers on top. The area below looked like it had been recently disturbed, all plant life and trees having been cleared out, a clear road leading in from the opposite direction Fluut and company had come in. The factory was surrounded by dirt and not much else.

Fluut’s heart sank a bit. Even nature itself wound bend to the will of “them”, wouldn’t it? Of course, given what else he heard they were behind, he shouldn’t have been so surprised. His fists tightened against himself, but Fluut took a deep breath. This was just the kind of action he’d traveled so far through space for, wasn’t it?

“The sooner we destroy this building… the faster the nature will return,” Fluut thought aloud, turning to his team. “I know we went over things before, but it’s for the best we recap what we’re doing here, of all places…”

Lusk crouched down to one knee to fully hide himself behind the curve of the cliff side. He stood far taller then his team mates, and above any of the Earthlings he'd met, and he'd come to know that size was sometimes a hindrance. He was careful not to poke the huge white horn strapped across his back into view as well.

"Step one, get in. Step two, destroy every machine in sight. Step four, get out.

"That was the third step." Nero corrected blankly, as Lusk began to think on the matter. Fluut looked over the metal building's structure, unfamiliar with its layout, and began to formulate a plan of attack.

"They wouldn't expect us to dig our way in, would they?" Lusk suggested with a grin, proud of his plan. As he turned to Nero, he was unsure of how to interpret the blank look that peered back.

Fluut considered the thought...

"Digging, huh..." Fluut looked towards the building a second time, looking along the dirt.

If we dig deep enough they won't notice us going through... but at the same time, we'd probably be trying for a long while, even given our respective strengths... thought Fluut, On top of that, we don't know what the floor or the walls are made of. Either way we'd have to use a lot of energy.

"I don't know if we can go that route," Fluut admitted, "Even starting this far out... so much ground to cover, and we'd probably wind up wasting most of our energy trying to just get inside. And we don't fully know what's in there other than things we'll need to get past. Might be best to conserve our energy for foes..."

Fluut strained his ears, trying his best to pick up on fainter sounds. He could definitely hear movement in those walls--maybe metal feet on floors, but other than that, he couldn't discern more than that there were definitely things patrolling inside. He could also hear the sounds of a car approaching from the road opposite them... what was that carrying here?

"Scratch that, definitely..." Fluut said, "But they'll likely expect us to blast through a wall, too... what shall we do?"

Nero turned his head to look towards the factory. "I'm not sure" he said "Give me a second to assess the enemy" Nero's eyes glew a dim purple for a second as his systems activated his internal sonar.
The ping went out towards the facility, and immediately it came back with its findings.  

"I cant detect too far into the building. just the side we are facing." he says, turning towards the others  "but i can confirm 17 signatures in total. 3 of which are stronger than the average set by the others"

Nero looks to the building again. Seeming almost nervous, "With that high a concentration in that area alone. a frontal assault could prove difficult"

He puts his hand to his chin for a moment, then looks up again "perhaps we could assault from above?"

"Above, huh... I guess that'll do it. We'll still need a way in, but that can be figured out once we're there. And once we're in, we know what to do," Fluut steadied himself, "It's going to be quite a jump, but I think we can make it."

Tensing his legs, Fluut leapt off the edge of the cliff first, easily clearing the distance between the cliffside and the factory with several yards of roof to spare. Fluut chortled; it looked like his jump had gone unnoticed.

Nero leapt soon afterwards, though didn't manage to make as much distance in the way Fluut had, but managed to scoot forward enough so that he wasn't in danger of falling off. Lusk was the last to jump, easily clearing half the distance. However, Lusk found gravity had a strong pull on him, and thus, Lusk beat a hasty route to the ground, landing hard, but on his feet, making a not-insignificant noise. All involved flinched, but when there was no movement, everyone assumed Lusk had gone unheard.

"Still all clear..." thought Fluut to himself, "Hurry and get here, Lusk..."

While most born on Earth would be rather embarrassed at such a mistake, the culture of Lusk's home wasn't to familiar with the concept. Dashing towards the building he quickly jumped up to the metallic roof and landed alongside his teammates.

Giving a nod towards them, he grasped the pseudo-handle of his horn-club in anticipation. "So we'll break in here then?"

"We may want to look for a proper entryway, we could still get in without causing to much noise. It'll be easier to destroy the important machines if we start there without distractions..." Nero said.

"Any entry may have camera's, and better cause chaos then have an alarm allow preparations." Fluut considered aloud, "We're bound to be thrown into violence regardless."

Considering both opinions, Lusk decided on a compromise. Closing his eyes to focus his hearing, he attempted to survey the interior. Metallic footsteps could be heard all around, but it was hard to pinpoint anything.

"Try here..." Fluut suggested, having realized Lusk's plan and searched on his own, backing up. Lusk walked over and surveyed the spot. He had to agree it was the quietest spot they could make out.

Raising the pure white horn over his head, most would marvel at the sight of such a "weapon" in use, as he slammed it down with a powerful swing.

The horn held up against roof just fine, blasting apart the metal. Fluut and Nero were quick to step out of the way as the large hole opened up from the strike.

Without a second thought, Lusk hopped inside.

"Probably be safer to check, but there's no time to waste. If we don't run into someone immediately, we'll run into them soon enough..." Fluut said. Nero gave a void-staring nod of approval, and both hopped in after Lusk...

Meanwhile, two floors down...

"You two hear that too, huh?" asked a cloaked person to his two compatriots, one male, one female. They had just heard the unmistakable sound of something crashing through the very roof of the building. No doubt... something big had just slammed its way in. As the three assembled guards looked up, a screen flickered on next to them.

A man, shrouded in shadow, one eye peering out at them from within, immediately caught their attention.

"You three had better stay on guard..." said the man on the screen, "We have some new prisoners on the way to your location. I trust you'll make sure they're... taken care of?"

The woman is visibly spinning a shuriken on a table, one end completely through her finger as it continues to drill through it, the other about an inch into the table.

"Don't worry Boss-kun. I'm sure these two fine gentlemen will pick up my slack. Right?" She gestures her free hand up, turning to the other two, but no response. "Hmm..."

She stands, revealing her body is mostly concealed in dark blues stained with crimson. An undershirt and gi with boots seamlessly connected. A mask conceals most of her lower face, and a headband mostly covers her upper face. Her red eyes peer forward as she begins to head off in a direction, "Something's finally happening then..." She muttered to herself.

Her long blue hair flows as she walks, licking the point of her shuriken still lodged in her finger.

[Xalia the Crimson Ninja]

"If there happen to be any intruders as well, you know what to do..." said the boss, "That's all for now. Take care to teach them all what happens when they oppose the substitutes..."

The screen flickered off.

"Hmm..." thought the cloaked man for a while, "I think I'll go check the prisoners in... What about you?"

The final person, Shinjo, looked up, "I'll go make sure she doesn't mess up too much... We need to make sure this place is secure, after all...

Elsewhere, rolling up to the base, was a car driven by, of all things, another robot. In the back, were two people...two Saiyans, one half, one full. One, Ryo, looked to the other, and asked.

"Any idea where they might be taking us?" asked Ryo.

"Not sure," said Arashi, "Just know we're probably gettin' close..."

Both had their hands bound in metal cuffs, but had no visual on anything once they had been thrown back there. And, from the way the car was, they could tell the car was something strong--it wouldn't break. As a result, they hadn't found the time to stage a breakout. There was not much else to do but wait for the prime opportunity, wait for their best shot at getting away...

OOC: So Arashi and Ryo were previously captured, but due to not having a clear line of sight on the driver or anything really, they chose to bide their time, since I couldn't think of a justification for them being captured so long. Basically, they're about at the same base and whatever, and are about to unloaded... but due to a certain other group, their driver's about to hit a snag.

Back inside the transport vehicle

"So when we get to the prison you know what to do right?" Ryo whispered.

"Yep. As soon as we reach our cells we both break out and tear that Factory apart from the inside out. Then we'll quickly make our escape after ensuring we double-tapped everything in that place." Arashi said with a joyful grin

"I'm glad you find incarceration as entertaining as I do. I was worried I was gonna have to comfort you or fetch ya Lawyer."

"Kinda late for that don't you think?" Arashi said as shook his cuffs.


The two Saiyans broke out in joyous laughter at their shared inprisonment. You could hardly tell these two were being taken into the lions den. Sadly it didn't take long for the reality of the situation to sink in.

"But seriously tho. If either of us bump into anything we can't handle its best to run while wreaking as much havoc as possible on the way out." Ryo said sternly.

"Good point. *sigh* I hate to admit it but we aren't the Z Fighters. Not yet at least."

The two Warriors spent the rest of their ride in silence.

Meanwhile...

As Fluut's team landed down, within seconds, they could hear the clanking of metal footsteps going towards their location.

"Looks like they heard our entrance..."  thought Fluut aloud, "Alright, you know the drill, let's blow through the resistance and get to where we need to!"

Fluut cracked his knuckles once, and braced himself for a moment, his compatriots doing the same...

The door opened, revealing three golden-colored robots bursting through the door. As soon as they noticed the group, they hesitated, and Fluut rushed forward, nailing one of the droids in the face, knocking it into the opposite wall with a loud "crash" and undoubtedly drawing more attention to the inflitration...

Before the droids can react, nero quickly dashes forwards at his top speed. and jumps into a flying kick that hits one of them square in the face, sending it flying backwards and tumbling to the ground.

Droid A's turn!

Droid A raised one hand, taking aim at Nero with a red energy ball. Fluut, spotting this, tried to warn Nero, but alas, the enclosed space and the close quarters left Nero a sitting duck, and although Nero raised an arm to try to defend himself, he was unable to stop the attack from exploding against his arm, dealing him some light damage.

Droid A attacks Nero with a basic energy attack (KP 7 -> 3), inflicting 6 damage! (Nero HP 65 -> 59)

Droid C's Turn!

The Droid that Fluut had knocked down, meanwhile, was not out yet. It slowly staggered to its feet, sighting its assailant, and raised its hand. A red energy blast began to form on its hand, and as he aimed, he apparently got overzealous. All of a sudden, the energy attack exploded right there in his hand! Fluut dropped his guard a bit as the droid he'd punted into the wall found itself short an arm and the entire side of its head on the same side as where the arm used to be.

Droid C crumpled to the floor, oil leaking out of its head as it sparked uselessly, the droid clearly too damaged to continue.

Nero's attention turned away from his lightly burnt arm, as he watched one of the droids blow itself apart. Wondering for a moment about the logistics of such a malfunction, he noticed the frenzied rush of the droid he'd nearly demolished a moment to late, turning to see it about to collide with him.

A shadow suddenly overcame the both of them, a moment before Lusk's mighty horn came down on what remained of the golden droids form, completely disfiguring the machine. As pieces slid across the metal floor, Lusk pulled his weapon free of the cratered robot and slung it over one shoulder.

He hadn't broken a sweat.

Fluut could hear the sounds of more feet shuffling their way. There wasn’t much time left before reinforcements would arrive! With that, Fluut quickly turned towards Droid A, and rushed forward, violently cratering its stomach with a single strike.

Fluut attacks Basic Droid A with a basic physical attack, inflicting 7 damage! (HP 13 -> 6)

Fluut burns an AP for an additional attack (AP 5 -> 4)

With Droid A still reeling from the attack, Fluut quickly rotated his body, delivering a roundhouse kick. The heel of Fluut’s foot made contact with the head of the droid, sending it flying off as if its neck were made of tissue paper. The rest of the Android’s body fell over with a loud “clang!”

“Let’s get going!” Fluut shouted, leading the group away…

Shinjo, hearing the commotion above, steadily increased his pace. So they did have intruders after all!

Arashi and Ryo could faintly hear the sounds of a gate opening. The car they were in slowly came to a stop. Suddenly, they could hear a commotion outside their car, as though there was something going on. Ryo leaned his ear against the outside and strained to hear something, but he couldn’t make much out. Arashi did the same; though his perception wasn’t quite the best, he could just make out:

“Intruders… on the third floor! Every… we can spare…” Arashi was able to hear from his position…

So Fluut and company destroy the group that was immediate to them. Every p ost of mine I’ll roll to see if any further droids come assault them (for now). Shinjo quickens his pace after hearing the sounds above of droids getting sent to the scrap heap. And Arashi and Ryo now know someone apparently beat them to raiding the place. So, yeah… there’s that.

"Looks like we're not the only ones who wanted to see this place go down."
Arashi thought

Both Saiyans looked at each other for a moment and began to form mischievous grins. They decided to seize the opportunity by casually breaking free of their restraints. They both prepared their fists and then hammered into the wall with considerable; tearing two holes into it. They both proceeded to put their hands in their respective openings and force them wide open. The two of them immediately leaped out of truck and entered their combat stances.

To their surprise there was no immediate threat trying to deter their escape.


"Well that was disappointing. I guess most of the clankers are off trying to deal with whoever broke in before us." Arashi said somewhat irritated.

"Then lets join the fun" Ryo said as he dashed towards a near hall way. It didn't take long for Arashi to give chase, excited at the chance to deal another blow to this organization.

Meanwhile...

Fluut, Nero, and Lusk had begun to move down the hallway, trying not to waste time.

"The thing we need to destroy is in the basement! We've got a ways to go..."

A shot whizzed past him and the group at that point, fired by a larger, silver-colored droid. No doubt, this was one of the three Nero had identified earlier as being stronger than the others.

"No choice...let's go through it!" said Fluut. Nero took the lead, as the battle began...

Nero's turn!

Nero dashed ahead towards the droid. stopping at the side of it, he threw a right hook. the android leaned out of the way just in time for it to miss his head. as he slipped past however, Nero recovered and threw a roundhouse kick, once again aiming for the androids head. the android leaped backwards a bit, easily avoiding the kick and gaining some distance from Nero.

"just as i thought, this one is superior to the others" Nero thought,

Big Droid A’s turn

Ignoring Nero for the moment, Big Droid A turned its attention to Lusk, and pushed off the floor. It didn’t seem to notice or care that Lusk was already preparing himself, reaching for his weapon. Big Droid A swung once, then twice, three times in fact, all missing. It was on the fourth try that Lusk reached out with one hand, swatting the enemy’s hand aside with a flick of the wrist.

Lusk smirked and swung his horn outwards, sending Big Droid A flying backwards, loose nuts and bolts flying backwards from the impact! Lusk then readied himself, preparing for his own offensive…

Big Droid A attacks Lusk, but Lusk rolls a perfect dodge (natural 20), enabling Lusk to make a free counterattack! Lusk uses a basic weapon attack, inflicting 10 damage to Big Droid A! (HP 31 -> 21)

Lusk’s Turn!

Lusk's turn

The large silvery figure attempted to regain its balance on both legs, it's systems carefully calculating its movements, while Lusk's instincts drove him off his feet towards the droid. Whipping his horn out at it's leg's he knocked them right out from under Big Droid A, knocking it to the floor yet again.

As Big Droid A lashed out at the Namekians feet, Lusk quickly retreated back with a quick hop.

Lusk attacks Big Android A with a basic weapon attack, inflicting 8 damage! (21 -> 13)

Fluut's turn!

Fluut, seeing the damage that had already been wrought, tried to step up and deliver his own damage. The droid seemed to recover quickly despite its injuries, and caught Fluut’s punch. Fluut tried for a kick, but was blocked. The droid swung out, but Fluut was already away from it, making his way back towards his comrades.

“This one’s stubborn…” thought Fluut aloud, getting back into his ready stance…

Nero’s turn!

Nero stares the droid down for a second, and takes his ready stance.

"We can't afford to take too much time here" Nero says to the others. he tenses up for a split second. his body blurring as he dissapears. the droid looks around, unable to keep track of Nero's movements. until it hears the sound of rushing air behind itself.

Nero appears behind the droid, lunging, he slams his arm through the back of the droid. and rips out its power core! the droid stands there. locked in surprise for a moment as its energy fades. and it falls forwards. clattering to the ground.

Nero attacks Big droid A with a Basic Physical attack, a critical hit!! 22 damage. the doid is defeated

As Nero turned to look behind him, the two Nameks with him had already taken the lead, charging past the downed big droid and into the stairwell, leading down to the second floor. Two floors now remained for them to traverse, and who knows how many more enemies awaited in this place…

The cloaked man stopped for a few moments, pausing as though he detected something in the air. His mouth soon curled into a grin.

“So, it seems the prisoners are getting carried away, hm?”

Meanwhile…

Ryo and Arashi broke through the front doors, meeting surprisingly little resistance on the way in. This changed very quickly, however, as they sprinted down the first hallway they saw. Four golden robots were waiting for them, and they all  took sight of them.

“Time for some action…” Ryo grinned, as the fight begun.

Droid G’s turn!

Two of these droids looked to each other and nodded. Each raised a hand, pressing the sides of them together as red energy swirled into them. They took aim at Ryo, and fired an energy ball in unison at Ryo. Ryo tried to raise his arms in time, but was a bit careless in doing so, and took a few steps back in shock.

“Let my guard down…” Ryo grumbled.

Droids G and E do a team attack on Ryo; their energy attacks are treated as 1 attack that uses both their turns! The combined energy attack hits Ryo for 13 damage! (Ryo HP 56 -> 43) (Droid G KP 17 -> 13) (Droid E KP 20 -> 16)

Arashi’s Turn!

Arashi didn't take his friend being harmed very well. In an instant he disappeared from site only to reappear in front of one of the Androids. Before any of the other robots can respond Arashi had already obliterated the enemy before him with a devastating Haymaker to the midsection. Only this punch did not stop at there. It continued to break through the Androids body like a child kicking down a sand castle. Only only with more fire involved.

All that remained were flaming scraps and the lower body of the decimated machine. The other Androids jumped back in alarm trying to avoid the juggernaut before them.

One of the golden robots lifted its hand preparing an bright red energy blast. In response Arashi simply turned toward the direction of his attacker and smiled. With a bang the energy ball is fired off and began to rocket towards Arashi. Before it could even get close he leaped towards the ceiling effectively dodging the attack and landing feet first.

For a second or two the energetic young boy hung from the ceiling like a bat only to push off of it towards his would-be assailant. The Android panicked is it but both of its arms are preparing a new and more powerful blast. Unfortunately that only served to aid in its undoing. Before it got the chance to fire Arashi rolled his body head first mid flight and crashed into the energy ball with a drop kick.


On impact the Android's arms were crushed under the weight of the kinetic force and its own energy ball. Eventually finding it's self being slammed into the wall behind it and blowing up.

Arashi flipped out of the crator in the wall with ruined snickers and a pleased expression.

"Hey Ryo! You gonna jump in or what?" Arashi asked

“Oh believe me, I will…” Ryo said.

Ryo, shaking off his injury from earlier, sighted one of the droids responsible, and launched himself forward at the being. The droid raised its arms to defend itself. Ryo let loose with a mad flurry of punches and kicks, nuts and bolts flying from the droid’s arms. Ryo swept the droid’s feet out from under it, and slammed his fist into its chest, leaving a good dent in it.

Ryo uses a basic physical attack on Droid E, inflicting 13 damage! (Droid E HP 16 -> 3)
Ryo burns an AP to attack again! (Ryo AP 4 -> 3)

Ryo prepared to finish off the other droid, but a shot suddenly whizzed past his head, and he turned, seeing the other droid had tried to attack him while he was focused on its remaining partner. Needless to say, Ryo dropped what he was doing, and rushed towards the other droid, leaping high and extending his leg as he charged. The droid stood there, seemingly stunned, and a moment later, Ryo’s foot plowed into its head dead-center, its head bursting into scraps of iron and rust, oil spraying everywhere.

Ryo slid to a halt as his other opponent slowly began to rise, a massive dent in its chest.

Ryo uses a basic physical attack on Droid G and scores a critical hit, inflicting 18 damage! (Droid G HP 14 -> 0)

Droid E’s turn!

Droid E struggled to take a step forward, but as soon as it was in position, it leveled its hand at Ryo once again, determined to bring down at least one of his enemies. However, this time, Ryo dodged out of the way.

Droid E attempts to attack Ryo with a basic energy attack (KP 16 -> 12), but misses the attack! It burns its only AP to attack again! (AP 1 -> 0)

Droid E, undeterred, began to charge another attack. It leveled its arm at Ryo, and began again to attack, using another energy ball. Ryo once again twisted out of the way, both attacks tearing holes inside the building…

Meanwhile…

Fluut’s team continued down the halls, quickly proceeding down the staircase. They quickly found, however, that the staircase only went down one floor, and burst through the doors to the second floor. Skidding to a halt, Fluut saw ahead, some more droids ahead. Two of them, this time, were the big ones.

“More scrap metal…” Fluut said, “Let’s plow through these, too!”

Droid H’s turn!

Droid H responded to Fluut, seemingly, for it leveled its hand at Fluut and let off a red Ki attack in Fluut’s general direction. Fluut blinked and tried to step forward to stop it, but it was already too late. The blast was soaring right at him, and Fluut could only raise his arms and hope for the best. The blast hit, but Fluut was ready, having braced himself to avoid the damage, or at least, the worst of it.

Droid H attacks Fluut with a Basic Energy Attack (Droid H KP 19 -> 15), inflicting 5 damage to Fluut, who managed to succeed at an Endurance check! (Fluut HP 52 -> 47)
